Our history

The Association was established in 2011 under the name Institut Europèen pour la recherche et l’Ecologie du Tir Sportif (IERETS) – European Institute for Research and Ecology of the Shooting Sport.

In March 2019 we extended the scope of the Association’s activities to generally promoting the shooting sport in Europe and worldwide.

With the extention of the scope of activities we have also changed the name of the Association to European Shooting Sport Promotion Association (ESSPA)

However, the original activities in the sphere of ecology of the shooting sport continue: they are carried out by IERETS, a division of the Association with the status of a Special Committee.
